​Chinese Kinship Terms

This article contains loaded information about culture in Chinese society. One typical example is the usage of Chinese kinship terms. Chinese kinship terms usually describe explicitly the relationship among family members, such as the blood relationship. English kinship terms, on the other hand, are quite simple. These differences are due to different cultural, social and historical factors in the Chinese and western society. With an aim to demonstrate and emphasize Chinese kinship terms and cultural factors behind, we as translators decided to use foreignisation methods to translate kinship terms. As well, we provided a family tree for foreign readers as a reference.
