The Savour of Shrimp Roe revolves around Valentine’s Day when Mrs. HO WU Yin Ching and her father went to have wonton noodles. The prose also included a lot of memories about her mother before and after she passed away.
The story touched upon family relations. Being in the middle of two generations enabled her to take care of her father and enjoy the care of her two children, just like the lingering savour of the shrimp roe that she and her father had and the sweetness of the dessert that her children made. Food can always evoke memories. The shrimp roe and dessert are no exception.
